- 10/2004-present -- Development Engineer, Aculight, Inc.
Responsible for building and characterizing prototype laser systems for primarily government customers. Laser technology used includes fiber lasers, fiber amplifiers, diode lasers, and OPSLs. Additional responsibilities include building systems for automatic data collection and presentation.
- 7/2004-10/2004 -- Founder / Executive Director, Seattle Community Colcation Project.
Defined business model. Built initial core operations team and gathered a critical mass of customers. Negotiated contracts with service providers. Fund raising.
- 5/2003-7/2004 -- Contract Software Engineer, University of Washington.
Modified functioning real-time seismic monitoring system to support interaction with Shakemap software. Set up a system that automatically produces and publishes Shakemaps in the event of an earthquake. Wrote software that analyzes the Washington State Bridge inventory with the Shakemap data, automatically providing a bridge inspection priority list to WSDOT in the event of an earthquake.

Linux/Network administration. Handled routing, DNS setup, Apache servers, network administration. Worked directly with customers to provide custom solutions. Product evangelism and business development. Increased colocation customers by approximately 25% in 6 months. Initiated cost-cutting measures that reduced account management overhead by about 50%. Increased web and DNS server reliability by replacing legacy Windows machines with Debian machines.

- 2000-2001 -- Optoelectronics Engineering Intern, Intel Corporation.
Designed a novel platform for wafer-level passive optical device testing, to which two engineers and several hundred thousand dollars were committed. Designed and equipped an entire passive / active optical device test laboratory from space layout to test automation software. Provided hands-on laboratory test support and engineering input for both passive and active optical device projects.

Designed and programmed a Perl based web client to poll and mirror a remote database.
